Integration: An integrative approach combines components of various effective psychotherapy models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy so that therapy is optimized and customized to the client’s goals, needs and preferences. We recognize that a particular model of therapy is effective for certain types of issues, but everyone is different in terms of the type of therapy that would most benefit them.
Client-Therapist Relationship: No therapy approach can be successful without a strong and trusting alliance between the client and the therapist. We strive to build an emphatic and collaborative relationship with our clients so that we may help them achieve their greatest potential.
Multiple Systems: We focus on understanding you and the various systems that influence the issues you are dealing with to provide the best model of care. We don’t just combine different models of therapy, but attend to your biological (e.g. health issues, abilities), individual (e.g. personality, style of processing emotions) and social (e.g. family, work, culture, socioeconomic status) systems. These factors work together to shape who you are and how you deal with present struggles.
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 20% of Canadians experience mental health difficulties in their lifetime and 49% of people who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety never sought treatment. Whatever difficulties you are having, we will work with you in a collaborative way to determine the best approach to suit your needs, goals and values.
