Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts based on the understanding that health depends on a correctly functioning nervous system.
Dr. Pharand uses a modern computerized spinal scanner to detect areas of stress on the spine. This scanning technology has been certified by the Space Foundation to prove a reliable, scientifically valid, quantitative and multidimensional representation of patient well-being. This chiropractic tool instantly identifies the cause of the problem and demonstrates how chiropractic care may improve overall health.
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that offers patients a variety of benefits. It improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific energy points on the body’s meridian lines. The most common method used to stimulate these energy points is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin.
This remarkable therapy uses negative pressure (rather than tissue compression) for superior results in a wide array of bodywork techniques. Suction cup therapy is a traditional, time-honoured treatment that remains favoured by millions of people worldwide because it is safe and comfortable, and offers remarkable results.
By creating suction and negative pressure, cupping therapy lifts connective tissue, releases rigid tissue and loosens adhesions. Cupping pulls stagnation, waste and toxins to the skin level where they can be easily flushed out by the lymphatic and circulatory system.
Cupping techniques bring blood flow and nutrition to stagnant areas. The pulling action engages the parasympathetic nervous system, thus allowing deep relaxation throughout the entire body.
Dr. Angela Pharand completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Physical and Health Education degree from Queen’s University, followed by a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She uses light force chiropractic techniques, making her adjustments comfortable and effective for everyone. Dr. Pharand takes her time with each patient, making sure all areas of concern are addressed. It is a wonderfully peaceful and healing experience.
Dr. Pharand also holds a certificate in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University and incorporates acupuncture into her treatment plans. Acupuncture works with the natural energy of the body. When this energy becomes imbalanced, disease can set in and symptoms arise such as pain and dysfunction.
